Full Job Description

A multi-specialty clinic is looking for an experienced medical assistant to help with the start-up and opening of the new practice. Expected duties include verifying patient information by interviewing patients effectively, recording medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit, preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, temperature, and reporting patient history summary. The ideal candidate will be comfortable caring for both adult and pediatric patients and able to work in a fast-paced and busy environment while operating within the scope of practice of being a medical assistant.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform screening of patient history, the reason for the office visit, chief complaint
  • Document medications and dosage accurately into the EHR
  • Request additional referral or medical records when indicated
  • Update patient records and check record for accuracy at each patient appointment including ICD-10 documentation along with CPT code capture, medication review, and relevant updates/changes
  • Follow up on prescriber orders and refill medications per provider orders
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications and procedures when necessary
  • Collaborate with clinic staff within scope of practice
  • Ensure patient follow up appts are scheduled
  • Deliver quality care while maintaining all company metrics pertaining to productivity
  • Serve as a resource for patients’ needs for ongoing care information
  • Triage phone calls and other incoming patient communication based on standing orders provided by the medical provider(s)
  • Review pertinent medical records from outside sources when indicated
  • Perform diagnostic testing/procedures/venipunctures, injections as ordered
  • Perform supply inventory management
  • Order sample medications from pharma companies
  • Sanitize and clean patient rooms per Covid19 guidelines
  • Screening of patients per Covid19 guidelines

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid MA unencumbered certification in Washington State (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in family medicine, pediatrics, urgent care, or one year in allergy and asthma.
  • Ability to work with a team and take direction
  • Prior experience with EHR
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • BLS certification (required)

Job Type: Full-time
